Donkou means ‘slow thinking’ in Japanese, and is the name of the private book collection of Yoshitaka Haba, a book director who has planned and curated the selection of books for libraries and shops across Japan.

Take the slow-moving Eizan Railway to Miyakehachiman Station where you’ll walk through the backstreets of Kyoto before arriving at this shrine dedicated to books and coffee. But you’ll want to reserve your spot online before you go. The care takes only 6 reservations at a time, each for 90-min increments. The cost is 2000 yen and includes a cup of freshly roasted and brewed coffee. You can learn more on their website or follow them on Instagram.
