Outdoor tea ceremonies known as nodate (野点) began in the 16 century when Japanese samurai on hunting and war expeditions drank tea with their lunch. Akin to a picnic, the tradition continues to this day but preparing one was a complicated affair. Now, thanks to this nodate tea set, setting up a tea ceremony on your next camping trip has never been easier.

The Nodate tea set is a collaboration between Japanese outdoor brand Snow Peak and lifestyle brand Nakagawa Masamichi Shoten. Designed to be compact and portable, the set comes with everything you need for a tea ceremony from tea bowls made from durable titanium to a bamboo chashaku for measuring and scooping matcha. And everything packs away neatly in a drawstring bag.

The nodate tea set will be available online and in select stores and online starting April 6, 2022 for 35,200 yen (about $305 usd).
