2017 marked the 4th-year of running our little shop alongside our blog, which this year turned 10. Both continue to be entirely bootstrapped and operated internally for maintaining both quality and experience. Doing everything in-house poses several challenges but it enables us to form relationships with our favorite artists, makers and designers and be the bridge between them and the world. That gives us so much joy and is what keeps us going. With that said, here are the top 5 products we carry that our readers and customers loved the most.

1. 100 Views of Tokyo

Coming in at number 1 for a second year in a row is Shinji Tsuchimochi’s wildly popular 100 Views of Tokyo, an illustrated homage to ukiyo-e artist Hiroshige and his One Hundred Famous Views of Edo.

2. Sola Cubes

Introduced in our shop this year and coming in at number 2 are these beautiful acrylic sola cubes that preserve the wonders of nature. Koichi Yoshimura developed a way to exquisitely preserve plants in “Sola Cubes”. Each is handmade by Japanese craftspeople and come in a variety of different types of plants. We also introduced a holiday version just for this time of year.

3. Preserve Your Travel Card

Have you even been on a trip and wished you could share the experience with someone? Well now you can with this one-of-a kind mailing card that comes with a specimen window.

4. Starry Sky Envelope

It’s wonderful to see how much our customers love sending real letters! Coming in fourth are these Starry Sky Envelopes. Tiny holes are pierced into the envelope, creating an astronomically accurate depiction of the heavenly bodies. A double-layered mechanism allows for light to filter in, which illuminates the inside of the envelope.

5. Floating Ripple Vases

The Floating Ripple Vases were one of the first products we started carrying and their popularity remains strong. Cast from plastic resin, the ripple-shaped dish holds just a single flower and can be floated in almost any dish.
